Varsity Softball opened their season at home against a strong Cushing Academy team. The Deerfield bats were busy early, stringing together multiple hits for an early 3-1 lead. Tied 4-4 entering the top of the 7^th inning, the Penguins smashed a two-out home run to take the lead and ultimately secure the 7-4 victory.

Meaghan O’Brien ’18 pitched 7 strong innings for the Big Green, and finished the day 2-4 at the plate with a double and triple, respectively. Deerfield fought a tough battle–a great start to the season for this ball club.

The Big Green looks to bounce back this Saturday against Miss Porters School.
