Lacrosse, Girls: Varsity loses to Williston

Event Details

Williston jumped to a 5-0 lead early in the first half, but Deerfield battled back to score the next 4 goals and held Williston from offensive momentum for ten full minutes.  The Big Green showed marked improvement on draw control possessions, and that shift provided import momentum and opportunity for our offensive unit. Toward the end of the first, Williston went on another run, and we entered halftime at a 10-5 deficit.   Keeping up the good fight, Deerfield brought the score to 12-8 in the 2nd through plenty of hustle and strong defensive pressure.   Though the final score favored Williston, the DA squad was proud to have assisted 7 of 10 goals and win out in draw battles as well.  Overall, it was a strong team performance and one to be proud of.  The captains named Mary Edmonds as Team Player of the game for her strong offensive performance.  Mary scored three goals on three shots and tallied three assists as well.

Thank you for the drinks, oranges, and goodies post-game.  We look forward to a 6:00pm game under the lights this Saturday at Westminster.
