Lacrosse, Girls: Varsity defeats Andover

Event Details

Before our departure this afternoon, the Deerfield Girls Lacrosse team had the opportunity to hear words of wisdom and encouragement from Deerfield alum Graham Harden ’87. Of his many messages, one that caught our attention was that on a team, “everybody counts.”  This was certainly true today in our effort against Andover as every team member contributed toward the day’s outcome.  The first quarter of the game belonged to Andover as they took an 8-4 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the half.  With some adjustments on the draw control, Deerfield was able to swing the momentum back in our favor and entered the half in only a one-goal deficit.  As the sun began to shine in the 2nd half of the game, so too did Deerfield connections on the field.  The Big Green offense found their scoring groove, possessions off the draw fell in our favor, and our tireless defense continued to offer tough double team pressure.   As the clock wound down, Deerfield was able to tally a 17-14 victory.  The captains named Alli Norris ’18 as the Team Player of the Game for her game-changing efforts on the draw control and hustle all over the field.

A shout-out to the parents who braved today’s elements and offered such positive and enthusiastic support.  We love your voices and encouragement.   Special thanks to Julie Halloran for the sandwiches and other post-game snacks.  Much appreciated!
