On a very rainy, spring day, the Deerfield girls JV lacrosse team traveled to Andover for a fun and challenging game. We started off strong, with the first few goals and a lead, but Andover eventually grabbed and maintained the lead. Although we were able to make several great defensive stops, saves by Jill in goal, and sneaky drives by the attack (notably by Paige Gilbert ’20 with 5 goals!), Andover was able to outscore us each half. Despite playing some beautiful lacrosse at times, we also made some mistakes which Andover took advantage of. Additional scorers include Brenna Hoar ’18 with two goals and Sinclar Seeligson ’18 with 1 goal.
Despite the rain and the fierce competition, our girls never gave up, and brought attitude and energy even into the final minutes. The game proved to be a great opportunity for our mostly new lineup to practice playing together against a tough competitor. I think everyone valued the game as a building day and is looking forward to the future!
