On one of our coldest and windiest games this season, the Girls JV Lacrosse team traveled up to Gill to take on NMH. From the get-go, the girls put on the pressure and scored 4 quick goals within the first few minutes. The midfield and attack did a consistent job of finding the open player, and they were able to connect and capitalize on all of their opportunities. Virginia Murphy ’17 showed excellent shot placement and great leadership out on the field, contributing 4 goals and 1 assist. In the midfield, Isabella and Olivia Geraci ’19 did a fantastic job of controlling possession, contributing to the 15 draw controls (every single one!) of the game. After some difficulty connecting in transition, we regrouped and discussed what had to be done. Everyone did their part in sending cleaner passes and running through their catches.
Starting the second half 9-1, the Doors decided to make some changes on the field which led to some great efforts from everyone involved. Maggie Roche ’19 played midfield for the first time, gained possession of two draws in the circle and contributed her first goal of the season. Additionally, Lynette Jiang ’18, Sydney Gregg ’20, Paige Gilbert ’20, Emily Stonestreet ’19, Isabella Geraci ’19, Caroline Carpenter ‘19 and Emma Jaskolski ’20 contributed a goal to our 13-2 victory. Most notably, however, was the switch of Emily Henderson ’19 and Jill O’Connor ’19 for the goalie position at halftime. Despite not being accustomed to being in net, Emily did a valiant job. Jill played some fantastic defense and even marked a goal for the team while she was playing some attack. All in all, the girls did a great job and had a lot of fun even though it was chilly. Another great team effort across the board. We look forward to taking on Taft this Saturday, April 22nd.
