The boys JV lacrosse team continued their winning ways on Saturday afternoon with another OT victory at home against Westminster. The two evenly matched teams kept the score close in the first half with Deerfield goals coming from Nicky Hay, Zach Davis and Teddy Durfee. Freshmen Elliot Flagg and Jimmy Goranov helped bolster the DA defense with hustle, determination and heads-up play.
The second half had a lot of the same players scoring goals and the tying goal coming with about a minute left on the clock when Garrett Alexander found the back of the net to tie the game at 6-6. Goalie Thanasi Tsandilas played 3 strong quarters for DA and freshman Will Savage saw his first stint in the cage for the 4th quarter. Steven Li did a great job winning face-offs all day for Deerfield and came up with the crucial one as the OT period started. Deerfield moved the ball down the right alley and then behind the Westminster cage to find Nicky Hay open on the left side, who for the second straight game fired in the winning goal in OT.
Davis, Durfee and Hay all had two goals each for Deerfield, who are now 2-1 on the year.
