Saturday, April 29th dawned bright and warm for a conference doubleheader vs. Exeter at Headmaster’s Field. The Deerfield baseball team took the field as Penelope Hough ’17 sang the National Anthem in spectacular fashion. The team followed with a hard fought contest in Game 1 behind the starting pitching of senior Will Suter. Henry Gustavson ’20 pitched very well in relief, giving the Big Green a chance to win the game. The ol’ bugaboo, errors, undid the squad in the end as Deerfield dropped a 5-2 decision. Game 2 was a disappointment, despite the fact that Deerfield took an early lead. Freshman catcher, Eamon McNamara, played well behind the plate. Dylan Presnal and David Thomas led the offense with their bats. The team looks to shake itself back to winning ways on Wednesday at Cushing Academy.
