The boys varsity hockey team traveled an hour south to take on Loomis for the second time this season. After a thrilling 3-2 overtime win for the Big Green less than a month ago, it was clear that Loomis would come out ready to go. However, it was Deerfield who looked eager to play and brought a physical presence to the game that had disappeared for a number of contests. With the scored tied 0-0 heading into the third, the boys stepped it up another notch and possessed the puck in Loomis’ zone for the first eight minutes of the period, until a penalty put the team on the penalty kill. Two Loomis goals midway through the period put DA on their heels, but they continued to plug away, trying to find a goal of their own. Loomis would add an empty net goal and the game would end 3-0 in favor of the home team. The boys travel to Avon on Saturday.
