The boys varsity hockey team traveled to Avon for their second straight game on the road. After an exciting first ten minutes of play that saw a lot of back and forth action, the home side found the game’s first goal on an odd man rush, leaving sophomore goalie Thomas Gale ‘19 no chance to get across his crease. The Big Green did not let the goal get them down, as Captain Justin Marler ‘17 skated his way through four Avon players before using his backhand to bury the puck into the upper right corner of the net. Not long after that, Avon would regain their lead on a power play goal, sending the teams into the intermission with a score of 2-1 in favor of the hosts. The second period saw Avon extend their lead to 3-1. Throughout the third period, DA fought hard to close the gap, finding their second goal of the game on the power play with 30 seconds to go when Jon Donville ‘17 banged home his first of the season. Unfortunately, the Big Green could not find the equalizer and the game ended in a 3-2 defeat.
