The team easily bested Milton on Wednesday in a 6-1 victory, and, once again, the entire girls’ JV roster went undefeated. At #1 and #2, senior varsity players Adeliza Grace and Lily Louis won 3-0 matches to give Deerfield an early edge at the top of the ladder. Though senior Maya Hart fell at #3 to a tough opponent (0-3), captain and #4 Lilley Salmon ’18 took her competition down 11-7, 12-10, 8-11, 11-9, and co-captain Carolina Conzelman ’18 quickly disposed of her Milton opposition in a 3-0 win, which she finished off with an 11-1 third game. Ninth grader Talbot von Stade, playing #6 this week, won a quick 3-0, as did sophomore Christina Li (#7), junior Cameron Heard (#8) both Geraci sisters, Olivia and Isabella (#9 and #10, respectively), and co-captain Olivia Jones (#12). Sophomore Esme Benjamin (#11) won two quick games 11-2, 11-3. However, her opponent gained some energy to win the third game 11-5, and then gave Benjamin a challenge in the fourth game, locking it up at 10-all. Unluckily for her opponent, Benjamin was her usual calm, dependable self, kept her head, and won two quick points to get the victory. Overall, Deerfield was 11-1 for the day and looks forward to next week’s final matchup away at Groton before winter break!
