Thirds squash opened its season against cross-town rival Eaglebrook on a chilly Wednesday afternoon. 364 days earlier, Eaglebrook had handed us a 7-0 loss in the 2016-2017 season opener, so there was arguably nowhere to go but up. With only a single practice under our belt, we played loose but composed from the first ball. Wins included Elliott Flagg at #7, Adrian Yao at #4, Ryan Welch at #5, Arthur Yao with the clinch at #3, and Connor Flannery in the top spot, while Johnny Glinton and Francis Shea added wins in the exhibition positions. The final match of the day featured the Wonder from Down Under, David Chen; buoyed by an enthusiastic cheering section, he fought valiantly but came up just short in five games.
The Tune Squad will be back in action against Eagle Hill in exactly a week, and we look forward to our rematch with Eaglebrook in just over a month.
