The Boys JV hockey team played host to a young and talented Eaglebrook varsity on Wednesday at the Eaglebrook rink. The game started well for Big Green as they scored the game’s first goal midway through the first period putting pressure deep in the offensive zone. The line of Andy Han, Peter Marchese, and Jake Presnal buzzed the net and eventually got the game’s first goal. Eaglebrook would come back and score the equalizer to end the period in a 1-1 tie.
Garret Moe got his first goal of the young season off a nice sequence from bothers Austin and Aidan Philie to give Deerfield another lead, but once again Eaglebrook kept after things and would tie the score making it a 2-2 game after two periods. Alex Leong was having a solid game in net turning away several good scoring opportunities by our opponent.
The third period was all Eaglebrook as far as the scoring would go. Our team continued to work hard but penalties and a strong performance by Eaglebrook’s goaltender kept us off the scoring sheets while Eaglebrook would score three unanswered goals on route to a 5-2 victory.
Next game up for the J.V. team will happen on Saturday as we travel to our “home” ice at Umass at 6:00 p.m. to take on rival Choate.
