On a chilly day in the Pioneer Valley, the girls varsity soccer team faced off against the Tigers of Suffield Academy. Due to the damp and muddy field conditions of our home grass field, the game was played on the Fair Family Turf Field behind the track and Koch Center. Right from the opening whistle, the Big Green came out hard, applying pressure on the Tigers, running through tackles and creating scoring opportunities. However, as the game settled down, Suffield found themselves getting more and more offensive chances. It wasn’t long until Suffiled scored a goal off a breakaway to take the lead 1-0. Despite DA’s continual efforts, heading into half time the score remained 1-0 for Suffield. As the second half began, a light drizzle began to fall. The game continued to be back and forth with both teams creating chances to score. In the final ten minutes of the game, Deerfield, changed their formation to get more numbers forward in the hopes of getting a equalizer. Despite their best efforts, Suffield was able to sneak behind the Deerfield back line and put another shot in the back on the net. When the game ended, Suffield has taken the victory 2-0. The girls varsity soccer team will be back in action on Sunday, November 5th when they travel to Hocthkiss for a 1:00pm start.
