The team was excited to play our second home-game of the season today.
Set #1 was a great display of team work. We started out strong from the beginning and Maddie Lee, made 2 key assists and Abby Persons got 2 kills to hold our lead. Ending the set with a win of 25-20 the girls felt confident. Set #2 felt like a battle. Deerfield started out strong with a lead of 6-0, however we made several errors which allowed Hotchkiss to catch up and eventually tie the game at 16-16 and then again at 20-20. Hotchkiss carried the momentum of this rally to win Set #2 26-24. Set #3 was never within our reach. The confidence that Hotchkiss gained from the recovery in the second set definitely carried over to the third set. With serving and hitting errors by Deerfield, Hotchkiss was able to take the Set 15-9.
This loss was difficult. The players are frustrated with their performances and want to make the changes they need to so that a loss like this can be avoided. The team is not giving up and hopes to be ready to face Exeter in front of their families and friends on Family Weekend.
