On Saturday, October 14th, the boys junior B soccer team traveled up the hill to the Eaglebrook School to face their JV 1 squad on parent’s weekend. The day was unusually warm, which took a toll on Deerfield, who were playing without several starters. Eaglebrook got on the board quickly, knocking in a shot off the post into the goal in the 5th minute and it looked like it was going to be a long day for Deerfield. While Eaglebrook had the edge in possession and shots, neither team scored the rest of the half and EBS took a 1-0 lead into the break. Both teams had some good opportunities in the second half and it took nearly the entire time for EBS to get another goal in the 69th minute to finally seal the 2-0 victory. Deerfield’s defense played extremely well, including sweeper Arthur Yao ’20, Henry Barrera ’21, Nasir Barnes ’21, Nic Labadan ’18, and first-time keeper John O’Loughlin ’21. Deerfield’s boys junior B soccer team dropped to 4-1 on the season and will return to action on 10/21 with a game at home against Eaglebrook’s JV 2 team.
