On Saturday, October 21st, the boys junior B soccer team hosted the Eaglebrook JV2 team on the lower fields for a Family Weekend match. The families and other fans were treated to a beautiful afternoon for the 2:30 kickoff. From the opening moments, the match was a tense affair, with both teams getting some good looks at the goal, but neither team able to find the back of the net. Deerfield were buoyed by the return of Alex Leong ’20 as keeper, and he did not disappoint, making some solid saves. The match was tied 0-0 at half time and both teams continued to press forward for the winning goal. In the 62nd minute, Ethan Chen ’20 hit the post with a great opportunity and that seemed to be Deerfield’s last chance. Fortunately, just a few seconds later, Chen got the ball back and, this time knocked it home, as Deerfield finally took a 1-0 lead. The match ended a few minutes later and with the win, the boys junior B team improved their season record to 6-1. The team will be back in action on October 25th, hosting Suffield Academy for a rematch on the lower fields at 3 pm.
