Eaglebrook came back strong, dominating possession for the next fifteen minutes as they attempted to regain control of the game. Two quick Eaglebrook breakaways were thwarted as Matthew Gardner ’18 blocked two shots in quick succession. A counterstrike by Connor Guest ’20 on a vertical ball sent through the Eaglebrook backline was turned away by their keeper, as well as the shot on the rebound by Han. After the half, DA came out energized and aggressive. Phillip Weymouth ’18 and Jared Faux ’20 both almost scored on a breakaway cross by Merritt Wurts ’21. Good ball movement in the midfield by Jason Liu ’18 to Wurts ’21 led to a give and go with Whitely and a shot from Wurts. Elliot Flagg ’20 and Whitely traded borderline assists in the Eaglebrook box, but the score stayed 1 – 0 until about ten minutes remained in the game. Whitely ’20 made a clean steal from an advancing Eaglebrook midfielder, sent an accurate pass to Jung in the box who took a clean shot. The Eaglebrook keeper blocked the ball, but Han buried the rebound in the net past the goalie to put Deerfield up 2 – 0.
