Deerfield edged out visiting Phillips Andover 7-0 on a wet, muddy Sunday afternoon. After a scoreless 1st quarter, Deerfield was able to capitalize on an Andover 15 yard roughing the passer penalty committed deep in Deerfield territory. QB Cortland Dicks came into the game and completed a huge pass to WR Sam Dwinell that put Deerfield in scoring range. On the next play, RB Keegan McHugh scored from 12 yards out which proved to be the deciding score of the game. Despite turning the ball over 3 times, Deerfield was able to keep the score at 7-0 to the final whistle. The Deerfield secondary, led by CBs Inho Choi and Parker Luber, did not allow Andover to complete a pass on the afternoon. LBs Will Kolman and Matt Pecora made sure the Andover running attack never broke into the back half of the Deerfield defense. DE Adimora Esonwune provided a much needed spark in the second half to seal the victory and give Deerfield their second shutout of the year.
Deerfield gets a week off and then hosts Choate on November 11th for their final home game of the year.
