On a gorgeous afternoon at Northfield Mount Hermon School, on a field with one of the most spectacular views in the league, and an empty bench, the Deerfield JV field hockey team took on the Hoggers—and came away with the win, a team victory for sure. Every girl played every minute of the contest, cheered on by a trio of injured players who didn’t dress for the game. Forward Jada Howard ’19 scored on a corner early in the game, on a beautiful pass initially from Emma Jaskolski ’20 who sent it to Renee Ballou ’20 for the assist. Our next goal came from middie Sydney Gregg ’20, with a second assist from Renee. Renee again assisted on our third goal, scored by Lucy Blake ’19. Sydney assisted on the fourth goal, scored again by Jada; and then, unassisted, Jada scored the fifth goal as well, earning herself the coveted hat trick! DA had nine corners on the day, while senior goalie and captain Niyafa Boucher ’18 had three saves, and sweep Lily Faucett ’20 had one save. Well done, everyone!
