On Saturday, the JV girls’ squash team made the long journey up to Concord, New Hampshire to take on St. Paul’s. Looking to preserve their perfect record on the season, this road trip against a strong St. Paul’s team was surely to be a challenge. As has been the case all year, the depth of the Deerfield squad proved to be the deciding factor. While the matches at the top were tight battles, Deerfield swept everywhere else, picking up clean 3-0 sweeps at #5-14. Audrey McManemin ’17, Adeliza Grace ’18, Jacqueline Minor ’17, Christina Li ’20, Cameron Heard ’19, and Sophia Centola ’18 all preserved their perfect match records on the season, while Lilley Salmon ’18 and Olivia Jones ’18 also picked up wins at the #10 and #13 spots, respectively. At the top of the ladder, Emily Henderson ’19 picked up the first win of the day at #1, while Katie Parker ’18 eked at a 5-game win at #2. Katherine von Weise ’17 and Cassie Deshong ’17 faced tricky opponents at #3 and #4, both losing in 4 games. With the 5-2 win, the squash brings their record to a perfect 7-0, with a very tough home battle against Williston’s varsity team coming up on Wednesday.
