Girls JV Ice Hockey hosted Exeter in an entertaining contest Saturday afternoon. The Big Green trailed the visiting squad 1-3 early in the second period before tying the score on goals by Katie Whalen ’18, who overpowered three defenders in the slot, and Tierney Roche ’18 who rushed the length of the ice and buried a top-shelf shot. The two teams went back and forth on the attack and Exeter was able to take the lead on a goal right at the end of the period. Juniors Cornelia Mackay, Annie Ilsley and Claire Koeppel helped spark the offense from that point as Deerfield scored three times in the third period. Goalie Hannah Swinerton ’17 held the fort with terrific saves down the stretch to seal the victory for Deerfield, 6-4.
