The JV girls hockey team travelled to Wallingford, CT on a beautiful Saturday in January to take on Choate. Deerfield came out firing, with Katie Whalen scoring the first goal about thirty seconds into the game. Choate battled back to make it 1-1 before Deerfield took back the lead on a beautiful goal from the point by Maggie Roche. Tierney Roche added another tally shortly after her sister’s goal to make it 3-1. Although Choate was able to score a second goal, Deerfield continued their offensive push throughout the game with Katie Whalen scoring three goals, Kate Hadley putting away two, and Tierney adding one more late in the third period for a final score of Deerfield 8, Choate 2. Hollin Hanau played great in net and Cornelia Mackay came up with some big defensive plays to help secure the win.
Next up: the girls travel to Watertown CT on Wednesday afternoon to take on Taft. Go Big Green!
