For the second time this season, the boys varsity hockey team would lace up their skates for a tilt against Salisbury. The first of which came in the third game of the Flood Marr tournament where DA fell 6-3 before going on to win the tournament title.
It was clear from the first whistle that the boys were motivated as just under two minutes into the game, Sophomore Sean McAvoy ‘19 took a breakout pass from fellow Sophomore Michael Holland ‘19 and skated the puck up ice, eventually beating the Salisbury goalie short side. The early goalie lifted the big green and the team continued to forecheck hard for the remainder of the first period, forcing mistakes and creating a number of quality scoring opportunities.
After going into the locker room with a 1-0 lead, the boys came out a little flat footed and Salisbury managed to score two goals in the first minute and a half of the second period. The score would remain 2-1 in favor of the visitors until late in the third period. Despite numerous grade A chances to tie the game, it was the visitors who would put the game away with their third goal of the game before adding an empty netter, making the final 4-1. The big green had another great showing in goal from Sophomore Thomas Gale ‘19 who made 32 saves.
