Boys Hockey Nets Seven in Road Win
Playing their third game in four days, the boys varsity hockey team made the long trip to Trinity Pawling looking to rebound from last night’s disappointing overtime loss to Cushing. For much of the first period DA looked sloppy and as a result the team went down 2-0 despite some quality saves from Sophomore goalie Thomas Gale ‘19. A late first period power play goal from Senior Chad Haggerty ‘17, who beat the TP goalie five hole, gave the visitors some life going into the second. The team looked much better in the second period and despite spending ten of eighteen minutes in the penalty box, the Big Green took the lead from the home side behind goals from Senior Seth Reinhard ‘17 and Sophomore Michael Holland ‘19. Clinging onto the one goal lead heading into the third, the boys needed to dig deep in order to secure the road win. After an all-time great, second intermission speech from Coach Flaska, you could sense that the Big Green were going to have their best period yet, and that they did! DA potted four more goals in the final stanza (Gahagan ‘17, McAvoy ‘19, Mancini ‘17 and Farr ‘17) to earn the 7-2 win. Gale ‘19 made 36 saves on the night while Freshman goalie Tyler McDermott ‘20 made his debut for the green and white turning three shots aside. The boys varsity hockey team returns to action on Wednesday when they host KUA.
