DA’s JV volleyball team has shown nothing but progress so far this season. Even though they’ve only had one game and won (Worcester 3-0) they have proven their progress, with more than half the team being first year players.
Knowing Loomis Chaffee would be the second game of the season, the team knew they had to work hard. Starting off strong they won the first set with Saher Al-Khamash ’17 having three aces to contribute ending the score 25-18.
In the second set, Lara Akande ’20 earned two kills with some beautiful assists from Soo Oh ’20. Although it was close, (26-24) the team earned another win putting them at 2-0.
Loomis had a comeback, winning the next two sets putting it at a tie, 2-2. With the fifth game ending at 15 instead of 25, the big green knew they had to work hard to get this win. With everyone being on the edge of their seats, both teams played their hearts out being tied up for three consecutive points but DA needed three points to win.
DA was successful by ending the game at 15-13 with Caroline Pappas ’17 dishing in three kills; putting the winning point in the back right corner.
The team has a home game against Hopkins this Saturday at 3:00 P.M, and they are more than eager to play again.
