Field Hockey: Reserve loses to Frontier HS

Event Details

Reserve field hockey traveled a few minutes down the road to take on a strong Frontier squad.  There was action from end to end, and Deerfield did a nice job connecting on passing combinations. Renee Ballou ’20, Olivia Geraci ’19 and Jada Howard ’19 worked the ball nicely up the right side into the offensive end.  The first half saw the two teams statistically almost evenly matched with The Big Green taking 3 shots and Frontier taking 4.  Deerfield’s offense certainly had some exciting scoring opportunities but just couldn’t find the back of the net.  Frontier faired better by knocking in a couple to make it 0-2 at the half.

The Big Green came out strong in the second half, but so did Frontier. While Deerfield took 3 shots, Frontier took 8 and capitalized on 2. Emmeline Flagg ’18, once again, anchored the defense at sweeper and stopped numerous Frontier breakaways, but despite the strong efforts by Flagg and Saahya Bahudodda ’20, Helen Niles ’19 and Acey Cai ’20, Frontier prevailed making the final score 0-4.

Though the final score didn’t go our way, Deerfield showed improvement in both our positioning and passing combinations. Next up for the Big Green is Suffield.
