Tennis: Varsity Boys defeats NMH

Event Details

The boys were at the top of their game against NMH this Wednesday, getting the job done at all nine positions with a slightly shuffled lineup. Alfi and Carl blasted through their opponents at #2, while the new team of Tom (in his varsity debut) and Gideon took some time to get on the same page before reeling off five games in a row for an 8-4 win. Scott and Darren put an exclamation point on the doubles, weathering Kevin’s aggression at net to squeeze out an 8-6 win.

We found good matchups across the board in singles; Gideon and Lorenzo first off and closely followed by Carl (who, although at times bothered by Ned’s monster forehands and low slices, finished his second set with a flourish). Darren earned his first singles win of the season against Clarke, and after Alfi took his match at #4, all eyes turned to Scott as he fought through back pain to outlast Kevin.

Thanks to the Auerspergs for the snacks and support today. With our record back at .500, we look ahead to eight matches in the next three weeks – including a high-powered Parents Weekend battle with Choate.
