The Deerfield boys’ swimming and diving team concluded its regular season with a meet at Loomis-Chaffee on Saturday. In the swimming portion of the competition, Miles Smachlo ’16 set pool and New England records in the 50m freestyle (23.26, leading off the 4 x 50 freestyle relay) and the 100m breaststroke (1:05.69). The freestyle record was set by Deerfield and Harvard alum Oliver Lee ’10 in 2010; the breaststroke record had stood since 1988. Congratulations, Miles! Full Loomis Results HERE
The squad is now in preparation for the New England championships. The diving portion will be hosted by Suffield Academy on Wednesday, March 2. Deerfield Academy hosts the swimming competition on Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6.
