This was by far our worst effort of the season. We came out completely flat, and incredible defensive passivity led to three Westminster goals in the first period. Meghan Halloran ’17 got the Big Green on the board before the end of the frame off of an incredible individual effort, but in general we were out-hustled and out-played all over the ice. The second period started off a little better, but a tough injury to Elliot Gilbert ’16, one of our leaders, seemed to rattle us, and the home team scored on the very next shift to take a 4-1 lead. We again cut into the lead as excellent forechecking by Mary Edmonds ’19 popped the puck loose for Halloran, who found Jenna Greenbaum ’17 in front of the net for a nice goal. The home team took a 5-2 lead early in the third period off of a breakaway, and while we played an excellent final few minutes (Katherine Goguen ’16 got a goal in the final seconds), it was far too little too late. A very frustrating afternoon for a team who is capable of much more than they showed today. Next up is Berkshire on Saturday. Thanks to the Hallorans for the sandwiches, drinks, fruit, cookies and chocolates after the game.
