The Girls’ Varsity Squash Team’s opener against Hotchkiss proved to be a resounding success despite the long road trip to Lakeville, Connecticut. As Deerfield entered the blue and white venue, the Bearcats were fiercely warming up, but the Big Green players quickly focused and took care of business, winning the match 6-1. In their Deerfield Varsity debuts, sophomores Ashley Manning and Emily Henderson convincingly won their matches. Co-captains Maddie Chai and Mimi deLisser blanketed their Hotchkiss opponents 3-0 as did veterans Harbour Woodward and Sasha Hinckley. Playing against Hotchkiss’s talented #1 player, Big Green’s Cameron Munn got off to a slow start, then rallied well before falling short in the end. The team hits the road again on Wednesday, heading east to ride herd on the tough Milton Mustangs.
