The JV Girls’ squash team looked to continue their strong start to the season in their home opener against Groton this Wednesday. Having dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Groton last season, the girls knew this would be a close match. At the top of the ladder, Carolina Conzelman ’18 and Lily Louis ’18 fought valiantly against very strong opponents, falling 3-0 and 3-1, respectively. Matches at #3 and #4 proved to be similarly close, as Adeliza Grace ’18 and Cassie Deshong ’17 each pulled out 3-1 victories. With the teams splitting the top four matches, the rest of the ladder would prove to be crucial. As has been the case all season, the depth of the Deerfield squad shined, as the Big Green swept all other matches in convincing fashion, with Audrey McManemin ’17, Maya Hart ’18, Christina Li ’20, Lilley Salmon ’18, Cameron Heard ’19, and Sophia Centola ’18 all winning in three. With the 5-2 victory, the team caps off an excellent 4-0 start to the season and will look to keep things going when we get back from the winter break.
