Deerfield hockey opened the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Nichols School. We lacked some jump during the first half of the game, but took the lead when Meghan Halloran ’17 put home the rebound of a Libby Wenners ’17 shot off the cross bar. Nichols would tie the score shortly after when we blew our coverage in front of the net, and then took the lead on a bad angled shot. We really picked up our play after that, but couldn’t find the equalizer. Aurora Devereaux ’20, Jenna Greenbaum ’17, and Mary Edmonds ’19 all had excellent chances, and all six of our defensemen did a great job of getting pucks to the net. Still, it wasn’t enough, and we will look rebound this afternoon against Kings-Edgehill.
