The girls JV Hockey team traveled to Westminster on Wednesday for a night game against the Martlets. The girls were psyched for the game and came out strong in the first period–Deerfield’s Katie Morse ’17 and Meredith Heaney ‘19 each had goals to put Deerfield up 2-0. The second period was very back and forth but Westy was able to find the back of the net toward the end of the second to make it 2-1 going into the third. Despite strong play from Hannah Swinerton ‘17 in net, Westy continued their offensive push and scored four more goals in the third period. Deerfield’s Katie Morse was able to put a second tally away in the third but a very strong Westminster goaltender stopped many of Deerfield’s scoring chances. The girls played hard though and will look to improve on Saturday in their game against Williston.
