For the second time in less than 24 hours the boys varsity hockey team would lace up their skates as they hosted Avon Old Farms for a Sunday afternoon tilt. From the opening whistle, you can sense that the boys were motivated and ready to compete, there were no signs of tired legs from Saturday night. That effort finally paid off when fellows PGs Chad Haggerty and Danny Farr linked up on the power play to give the home side a 1-0 advantage with 1:38 remaining in the first. However, the visitors scored 10 seconds later to even the score at one. The equalizer wouldn’t get the home side down as Senior Wiggle Kerbrat ’17 found line mate Milo Defay ’18 who made no mistake, burying a back hand shot into the upper left hand corner with 36 seconds to go in the first. The home side went into the intermission with a 2-1 lead. Three minutes into the second, a power play allowed Avon to tie the game for the second time when a shot from the point was deflected past Sophomore Goalie Thomas Gale ’19. The game would remain tied until the midpoint of the third period when Avon would notch the go ahead goal. With the boys battling it out to tie the game, a couple of late penalties allowed Avon to double their lead. The game would end 4-2 in favor of the visiting side. Gale ‘19 made 32 saves on the day.
