After a thrilling overtime victory earlier in the day, the team knew they would have to raise their level of play if they were going to be able to skate with the best team in New England, KUA. And that they did. This time with Sophomore Thomas Gale ‘19 weathering the Kimball Union storm with one brilliant glove save after another. After two scoreless periods of play that included DA’s penalty killing unit keeping a hot KUA team off the scoresheet on three separate occasions, the Big Green came out of the locker room confident and ready to fight for a spot in the championship game. With just under six minutes to go in the third, a rocket of a shot came off of Haggerty’s ‘17 stick, hitting the back cross bar and coming out of the net before the goalie even saw the puck. With a 1-0 lead and 1:14 remaining in the game, DA would go to the box, giving KUA a 6X4 opportunity after pulling their goalie. Two more unbelievable saves in the final minute from Gale ‘19 would secure the Big Green’s victory and with two wins in two games, the boys had earned a spot in the Flood Marr Championship on Sunday at 2 PM. Gale earned himself a 32 save shutout, the first in his young career at DA.
