The Girls Varsity basketball team earned a decisive victory in their home opener versus Stoneleigh-Burnham on Saturday, putting up an impressive 80 points. Deerfield came out in an aggressive full court man to man defense, relentlessly attacking Stoneleigh in the back court. As a result, four Deerfield players finished the game with double digit points: Felicia Renelus scored 15, Erin Tudryn put up 14, Tess Mannix added 14, and Emma Reavis chipped in 10. Deerfield entered the half up by 14 points, but they put the game away in the second half with great teamwork, quickly growing their lead to over 30 points and never looking back. Caroline Carpenter came off the bench in the first half to spark the offense with a quick three-pointer and another jump shot shortly after. Felicia Renelus’ fierce effort on defense led Deerfield’s tireless defensive assault. Deerfield will travel to Miss Hall’s on Wednesday.
