On a beautiful fall day down Main Street, Deerfield had no answer for a strong and skilled Bement team. The ridge, ablaze with color and in peak foliage, provided the backdrop for a punishing defeat, as the Triumphs could not seem to wake up and get to the ball. Bement scored early and often, beating Deerfield to nearly every ball and generating many offensive opportunities off a strong back line and a persistent midfield. The forwards were dialed in and together the “Bementors” worked their soul-sucking magic for a total of seven goals. The opposition’s coach kindly substituted in Bement’s second- and third-string players at the end of the second half, allowing Deerfield sophomores Katie Parker and Jordan Manning to score two goals to close out the game. The Big Green suffered the loss good grace and vowed revenge the following Monday.
