On Friday night, Andover hosted Deerfield under the lights in front of their parents and families for parents weekend. It was a windy, rainy, and dark evening when the bus pulled in front of the field, but the girls were dressed for the weather and excited to play hard, and many of our own dedicated fans lined their sidelines. Deerfield played fine in the first half, but had a hard time working together and stepping to the ball. Andover was quick, skilled, and aggressive and a good challenge for DA’s defense and midfield. At half-time the score was 1-0, Andover. Coach McVaugh made a few changes to our formation on the field in order to emphasize our offense, and DA returned to the turf for the second half charged up. For a good twenty minutes of the second half, Deerfield dictated the play. But, Andover was relentless and scored a second goal mid-way through the half. The coaches were very proud of the way the team played… with heart and fire through till the last seconds of the second half. We look forward to seeing more of that, this week. Deerfield plays Sacred Heart at Taft on Wednesday.
