In today’s dual meet versus Lincoln-Sudbury, Miles Smachlo ’16, broke the pool record at Deerfield in the 100 yard butterfly, achieving a time of 49.03; the old record was 49.49 set by Joe Shepley from Exeter in 2013. Miles was just shy of the current New England record of 48.42 that he set himself in last year’s championship meet. Miles also surpassed this year’s All-America automatic cut of of 49.37 in this event, assuring that he has already earned the honor of being named All-America in the 100 yard butterfly in only the second regular season meet of this young season. Congratulations, Miles!
