In September 2014, the new Hess Center for the Arts opened with renovated and expanded art, music, dance, and theater studios and performance spaces in the former Alumni Memorial Building completed in 1951. The $33 million renovation project included an updated lobby and large auditorium that accommodates all Deerfield students and faculty along with the new 1,200 sq. ft. von Auersperg Gallery and 160-seat Elizabeth Wachsman Concert Hall. These state-of-the-art exhibition and performance spaces realize our vision for hosting guest artists and performers as well as developing artistic excellence at Deerfield, thus enhancing the role of the arts in the daily life of the school.
