Obituary – Alfons Joseph Korzan

Alfons Joseph Korzan, age 82, resident of Aztec, NM, died October 19, 2014. Al was born in Deerfield, MA on 12/1/1931, at the family home. His parents were Joseph Anthony Korzan and Gladys Charlotte Koldys Korzan, both children of Polish emigrants. Al learned to speak English just before he went to 1st grade, Polish was the language spoken at home with the grandparents.

Al graduated from Deerfield Academy, Deerfield, MA in 1950. In 1952 he enlisted in the Navy, serving for 4 years during the Korean conflict. He graduated from the Univ of MA in 1959. In 1960 he began working for
the National Park Service with tours at Lake Mead National Recreation Area, NV, Amistad Recreation Area, Del Rio, TX, and Fort Washington Park, MD. He had many short term assignments, some of which included
Alaska, Grand Canyon and Yellowstone.

Al is survived by his wife, Cathy, of Aztec, NM. He is also survived by his children; Willy and his family in Nova Friburgo, Brazil, Debbie and her family in White Plains, MD and Betsy and her family in Waldorf, MD.
He is also survived by his sister, Joanne and family in Lantana, FL, his brother, Jan in South Deerfield, MA and his sister, Andi and family in Portsmouth, NH.

Cremation has taken place. There will be local services in the spring of 2015.
