Jim “The Professor” Ewing and I met at the Horseshoe Cafe in Southport CT a few months ago, after I noticed him wearing a classic style Deerfield Academy baseball cap. Jim is a much loved and respected local legend at “The Shoe” where he is the only person in the establishment’s eighty-five year history to be honored with a chair at the bar, complete with an etched brass plate bearing his name. We have become fast friends talking about history, politics, and memories of Deerfield.
