Completing her Doctoral Dissertation

Allison Stielau is completing her doctoral dissertation this year as a fellow at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. Her dissertation, “The Unmaking of Metalwork in Early Modern Europe: Case Studies, 1524–1628” considers the transformation of precious metal objects in contexts of war, confessional change, and fiscal crisis in the Reformation and Thirty Years War. In November she married Christian Thiemann, a computer programmer from Tübingen, Germany.
