Cris Schaefer passed away on April 15, 2017, in Woodbury, CT, where he and Blaine were longtime residents. They shared 54 years together. Cris was a dedicated father to his three daughters, loved his community and especially outdoor family activities including “hiking, fishing, hunting and skiing.” Along the way, Cris prolifically wrote family histories about his Scottish and German roots and Blaine’s American ancestors. Cris always read with “a pencil in (his) hand thanks to the coaching of Robert McGlynn.” Cris felt fortunate to have experienced an early four year Deerfield experience after which he majored in physics at Williams College. He went on to hold senior marketing and development positions with Texas Instruments, Brand Rex Co., ITT, Kerite and Hubbell Incorporated. Family and friends knew Cris as a man who loved people and who loved nature. Blaine fondly verbalizes that “He inspired everyone who knew him with his unique ability to make each and every person he met feel special.”
