Returned to India this May as the Minister Counselor for Economics, Environment, Science and Technology — a title that sounds impressive until you remember that the really important people have short titles, like “Ambassador.” Still it is a challenging portfolio in a fascinating country. My wife Lee arrived a couple of months later having stayed behind for the birth of our first grandchild — Little Iris seems bright and healthy but is a bit hard to hug over Skype!
