Software Installations

This page contains links to installation instructions and resources for some of the various software packages used in classes.

You MUST be logged in to your Deerfield Google Account to access the links in the instructions below.

  • Download DiLL Client from HERE
  • Open your Downloads folder (found on the right side of your Dock)
    • If you have changed the default settings on your browser, you may find the downloaded file on your Desktop
  • Double click on DiLL_Client_1.8.4.28.pkg to open the installer
  • When the Install DiLL Client window appears, click Continue
  • When the End User License window appears, click Continue
  • Click Agree to confirm agreement with terms of license
  • Click Continue once more to install the DiLL Client and related services
  • End your Computer Password when prompted
  • If prompted to allow access control, click OK
  • When installation is complete, click Close
  • If prompted to delete DiLL Client Installer, click Move to Trash
  • To open DiLL Client, type DiLL into the Spotlight Search.
    • If you wish to make DiLL more easily accessible, you may wish to add it to your Dock.  To do this, right mouse click on the DiLL Client icon while open and select Options from the pop-up menu, and then select Keep in Dock.

  • Download Fathom 2.4 for Mac from https://goo.gl/BeuVv1
  • Open your Downloads folder (found on the right side of your Dock)
    • If you have changed the default settings on your browser, you may find the downloaded file on your Desktop
  • Double click on Fathom 2.4 for Mac.dmg to open the installer
  • When the Fathom 2.4 window appears, click and drag the Fathom 2.4 folder icon onto the Applications folder icon
  • After file has finished copying to the Applications folder, double click on the Applications icon
  • Double click on the Fathom 2.4 folder
  • Double click on Fathom to open the program
  • When the Registration dialog box appears, select Register an authorization code on this computer
  • Go to https://goo.gl/ynpfik and open the document titled Fathom License Code
  • Copy code from the opened document, paste it in the Code field in Fathom, and click Activate
  • When the Activation was successful window appears, click OK
  • Fathom will now open

To make Fathom more easily accessible, you may wish to add it to your Dock.  To do this, right mouse click on the Fathom icon in your Dock and select Options from the pop-up menu, and then select Keep in Dock.

  • Download GSP506 for Mac.dmg from https://goo.gl/FVtpDe
  • Open your Downloads folder (found on the right side of your Dock)
    • If you have changed the default settings on your browser, you may find the downloaded file on your Desktop
  • Double click on GSP506 for Mac.dmg to run the installer
  • Click Agree to the License Agreement
  • When the next screen appears, click on the GSP5.app icon and drag it onto the Applications icon to complete the installation
  • If you have a copy of Geometer’s Sketchpad already installed on your computer, click Replace when the warning message appears.  If this is a clean install, you will not see this message.
  • Close the install window
  • Click on Go and select Applications
  • Double click on GSP5.app to run Geometer’s Sketchpad
  • Click Open at the Internet warning
  • When the Registration window appears, select Register a license on this computer
  • Enter the License Name and Authorization Code as listed in the e-mail you received from ITS and click Register
  • You have now successfully installed Geometer’s Sketchpad and will be able to use it for one year from the date of install

  • Download  MathType 7 for Mac from https://goo.gl/kqKeQB
  • Open your Downloads folder (found on the right side of your Dock)
    • If you have changed the default settings on your browser, you may find the downloaded file on your Desktop
  • Double click on MathType7MAC.pkg to open the installer
  • When the Install MathType 7.3.1 window appears, click Continue and then click Continue again
  • When the User Agreement appears, click Continue and then click Agree
  • When the next window appears, click Install
    • Enter your Computer Password when prompted
  • When the installer determines which version of Microsoft Office you are running, click Continue
  • Click Close when the installation is complete
  • Go the Applications folder on your computer and open the MathType folder
  • Double click on MathType to open the program
    • Alternatively, type MathType into the Spotlight Search and press the <Enter> key to open the program
  • Go to https://goo.gl/zTaMMf and copy the code from the opened document
  • Paste the License Key into the MathType Registration page and click Activate
  • When the Activation was successful window appears, click OK
  • MathType will now open ready to be used.

Mathematica can be installed on all school issued computers and on the personal computers of current students and faculty.  To install Mathematica on your computer please follow the appropriate directions below.

Students

Follow the directions below to download software from Wolfram and request the appropriate activation key.

  1. Create an account (New users only):
    1. Go to user.wolfram.com and click “Create Account”
    2. Fill out form using your @deerfield.edu e-mail address, and click “Create Wolfram ID”
    3. Check your e-mail and click the link to validate your Wolfram ID
  2. Request the download and key:
    1. Fill out this form to request an Activation Key
      1. When prompted to select a Product, select Mathematica for Students for Sites (Single Machine)
    2. Copy Activation Code
    3. Click the Product Summary page link to access your license
  3. Download the Mathematica Installer from here
    1. Run the installer on your machine
    2. Enter Activation Key at prompt

Faculty/Staff

Follow the directions below to download software from Wolfram and request the appropriate activation key.

  1. Create an account (New users only):
    1. Go to user.wolfram.com and click “Create Account”
    2. Fill out form using your @deerfield.edu e-mail address, and click “Create Wolfram ID”
    3. Check your e-mail and click the link to validate your Wolfram ID
  2. Request the download and key:
    1. Fill out this form to request an Activation Key
      1. When prompted to select a Product, select Mathematica for Sites (Single Mac)
    2. Copy Activation Code
    3. Click the Product Summary page link to access your license
  3. Download the Mathematica Installer from here
    1. Run the installer on your machine
    2. Enter Activation Key at prompt
