All Classrooms

  • Press Power button on Epson remote to turn on Projector.
  • Connect one end of HDMI cable to HDMI port on black box at the base of the white board.  Plug other end of HDMI cable into video adapter and video adapter into MacBook.
  • If laptop image does not appear on screen, press Source until image appears.
  • When done:
    • Unplug cable from MacBook
    • Press Power button on projector remote

Important Note – When using HDMI for first time, follow these instructions to update MacBook audio settings:

  • While connected to projector, click on Apple menu and select System Preferences
  • Select Sound
  • Select Output tab
  • From displayed list, select Epson Projector Audio (Type will read HDMI)
  • Close Sound window
  • MacBook will remember this setting

Wireless projection available through the Apple TV in the classroom.

If projecting a MacBook,  it must be running macOS 10.12.x (Sierra) or higher.

  • MacBook must be connected GreenDoor
  • Press Source on projector remote.  When Apple TV screen appears, move to next steps
  • Click on AirPlay icon in menu bar at top of screen (looks like a rectangle with a solid black triangle sticking into the bottom).
  • Select Apple TV being used (all Apple TV’s are named by room)
  • Desktop image should now be projected
  • Volume is controlled via the Volume Up/Volume Down buttons on the projector remote as well as volume on laptop and application
  • When done, be sure to disconnect from Apple TV so next user can connect
    • Select the AirPlay icon
    • Select Turn Mirroring Off
    • Press Off on projector remote

Before connecting to an Apple TV, make sure the iPad is connected to the GreenDoor wireless network.
To ensure the best signal quality in the classroom, turn off wifi on the iPad and then turn it back on.

  • On projector remote, press Power.
  • Press Source button on projector remote.  When the Apple TV screen appears, move on to the next step.
  • Activate AirPlay on the iPad **
    • Slide a finger up from the bottom of the screen
    • Select the AirPlay icon (bottom center right – looks like a rectangle with a solid black triangle sticking into the bottom)
  • Select the classroom (all Apple TVs are named by room) and turn Mirroring On
  • The iPad image should now be projected.
    • If the image does not appear, go back to the AirPlay icon and turn Mirroring On.  In some cases, mirroring does not take the first time.
  • Volume is controlled via the Volume Up/Volume Down buttons on the projector remote and the volume toggle on the iPad and the app.

When done, be sure to disconnect the iPad from the Apple TV so the next person in the room can connect.

  • Go back to AirPlay on the iPad
  • Select iPad to disconnect from the Apple TV
  • Press Off on the wall panel

** NOTE: To ensure reliable connectivity, you must be running iOS 10.x or later on your iPad.  Please contact the ITS Help Desk if you need assistance upgrading to the latest version of iOS.

Small Auditorium

  • Plug HDMI cable with video adapter hanging on wall into laptop
  • Press HDMI 1 on button panel to turn on Projector and switch input to laptop.  HDMI 1 button will turn blue when selected and a low beep will be heard.
  • Use + or  button at bottom of  panel to raise or lower speaker volume.  Volume level may also be adjusted in application.
    • Press the Mute button to mute audio.  Mute button will turn blue when active.
  • When done:
    • Unplug the cable from the laptop
    • Press Power button on pane.  A low beep will sound from button panel and a double beep will be heard when projector shuts down.
    • Power button will turn white when projector is powered down.

NOTE:  When using an HDMI connection for the first time, a change to the audio settings will need to be made on the MacBook.  This only needs to done once.  While connected to the HDMI cable:

  • Click on the Apple menu (top left corner of  menu bar) and select System Preferences
  • Select Sound
  • Select the Output tab
  • From the list displayed under Select a device for sound output:, select Epson PJ (Type will read HDMI)
  • Close the Sound window

The MacBook will remember this setting

  • Press BluRay on button panel to turn on Projector and switch input to BluRay player.  BluRay button will turn blue when selected and a low beep will be heard.
  • Use + or  button at bottom of  panel to raise or lower speaker volume.
    • Press the Mute button to mute audio.  Mute button will turn blue when active.
  • Press Power button on Blu-Ray remote to turn on player.
  • Press Open/Close button on Blu-Ray remote and insert disc (Blu-Ray, DVD).  Press Open/Close button to close disc drawer.
  • Use Blu-Ray remote to control Play, Pause, FF, Rev, etc.  Remote must be pointed at Blu-Ray player.
  • When done:
    • Eject disc from BluRay player.
    • Turn off BluRay player by pressing Power on BluRay remote.
    • Press Power button on panel.  A low beep will sound from button panel and a double beep will be heard when projector shuts down.
      • Power button will turn white when projector is powered down.
