All Classrooms (except Hess 223)

  • Plug HDMI cable with video adapter on the counter top into MacBook
  • Press HDMI on the button panel.  This will turn on the Projector or switch the input to the MacBook.
    • In Hess 115 & Hess 213, pressing HDMI will also lower screen.
  • Use VOL+ and VOL- buttons to raise or lower speaker volume.  Volume level may also need to be adjusted in the application.
  • Press the A.MUTE to mute the audio and V.MUTE to hide the video.
  • When done:
    • Unplug the cable from the MacBook.
    • Press Off on button panel to turn off projector.
      • In Hess 115 & Hess 213, this will also raise the screen.


NOTE:  When using an HDMI connection for the first time, a change to the audio settings will need to be made on the MacBook.  This only needs to be done once.  While connected to the HDMI cable:

  • Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences
  • Select Sound
  • Select the Output tab
  • From the list displayed under Select a device for sound output:, select Crestron (Type will read HDMI)
  • Close the Sound window
  • The MacBook will remember this settingPress Power on button panel.  A beep will sound when the projector shuts down.

Wireless projection available through Apple TV in the classroom.
If projecting an iPad, please go to Apple TV
If projecting a MacBook, it must be running macOS 10.12.x (Sierra) or higher.

  • The MacBook must be connected to GreenDoor
  • Press Apple TV on button panel.  When the Apple TV image appears, move on to the next step.
    • This will turn on projector or switch inputs.  In Hess 115 & Hess 213, this will also lower screen
  • Click on the AirPlay icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen (looks like a rectangle with a solid black triangle sticking into the bottom).
  • Select the Apple TV being used (all Apple TV’s are named by room)
  • The desktop image should now be projected.
  • Use VOL+ and VOL- on button panel to raise or lower speaker volume.  Volume level may also be adjusted via the application.
  • Press the A.MUTE to mute the audio and V.MUTE to hide the video.
  • When done, be sure to disconnect from the Apple TV so the next person in the room can connect.
    • Select the AirPlay icon
    • Select Turn Mirroring Off
    • Press Off on button panel
      • This will turn off projector.  In Hess 115 & Hess 213, this will raise the screen.

Before connecting to an Apple TV, the iPad must be connected to the GreenDoor wireless network.
To ensure the best signal quality in the classroom, it is recommended to turn off wifi on the iPad and then turn it back on.

  • Press Apple TV on button panel.  When Apple TV image appears on projector, move on to next steps.
    • This will turn on projector or switch inputs.  In Hess 115 & Hess 213, this will also lower screen
  • Activate AirPlay on the iPad **
    • Slide a finger down from the top right corner of the screen
    • Select Screen Mirroring
    • Select the classroom (all Apple TVs are named by room)
    • A code will appear on the screen.  Enter code on iPad.
    • The iPad image should now be projected.
      • If the image does not appear, go back to the AirPlay icon and turn Mirroring On.  In some cases, mirroring does take the first time.
    • Volume is controlled via VOL+/VOL- on button panel and the volume toggle on iPad and in app.
    • Press the A.MUTE to mute the audio and V.MUTE to hide the video.

When done, be sure to disconnect from the Apple TV so the next person in the room can connect.

  • Slide a finger down from the top right corner of the screen
  • Select Screen Mirroring
  • Select iPad to disconnect from Apple TV
  • Press Off on button panel
    • This will turn off projector.  In Hess 115 & Hess 213, this will also raise screen.

 ** NOTE: To ensure reliable connectivity, you must be running iOS 11.x or later on your iPad.  Please contact the ITS Help Desk if you need assistance upgrading to the latest version of iOS.

  • Press Power on the Blu-Ray player remote to turn on the Blu-Ray player.  The remote is in the drawer in the cabinet.
  • Press BluRay on button panel.
    • This will turn on projector or switch inputs.  In Hess 115 & Hess 213, this will also lower screen
  • Press Open/Close on remote and insert disc.  Press Open/Close to close disc drawer.
  • Use Blu-Ray remote for menu functions and viewing options (Play, FF, Rewind).
  • Use VOL+ and VOL- buttons to raise or lower speaker volume.
  • Press the A.MUTE to mute the audio and V.MUTE to hide the video.
  • When done:
    • Press Power on remote to turn off the Blu-Ray player and replace remote control on top of player.
    • Press Off on button panel
      • This will turn projector off.  In Hess 115 & Hess 213, this will also raise screen

It is possible to play audio through the speakers in the room without turning on the projector.
Depending on the room, there are two options:

BlueTooth Audio (Rooms B131, B150, 115, 201, 203, 205, 212, 213)

  • Open BlueTooth on device (e.g., iPhone, iPad, Android Phone, laptop)
    • Each device is different.  Please consult instructions for your device on how to access BlueTooth features.
  • Press PAIR on BlueTooth panel next to button control panel on wall.  Blue light will flash indicating it is ready to pair.
  • When location appears on device, press Connect to connect to BlueTooth receiver
    • Each device is named by room (e.g., RM205BT)
  • Use Vol+/Vol- buttons to raise/lower volume and/or via device
  • When done, go to BlueTooth settings on device and press Disconnect
    • Failure to disconnect can cause connection issues for next user
    • iOS Users ONLY: After disconnecting, tap Forget This Device.  Failure to complete this step may cause connectivity issues the next time you connect to any BlueTooth receiver.
  • If you have difficulty connecting to BlueTooth player, gently press PAIR button for 5 seconds to clear any lingering connections

 
Wired Audio (All Rooms)

  • Connect device (e.g., iPhone, iPod, Boom box) to mini headphone jack on top of cabinet
  • Look at A. Mute on button panel on wall
    • If button is lit red, press button to unmute sound
    • If button is not lit, audio can be heard through speakers
  • Turn on device at low volume so as not to blow out speakers and/or ears
  • Volume is controlled via Vol+/Vol- on button panel and via device
  • When done disconnect device and leave cable neatly on cabinet

 

Hess 223 (Architecture Studio)

  • Plug HDMI cable with video adapter on cart into MacBook
  • Power on flat panel via the Power button on NEC remote
  • Press SOURCE button on NEC remote
  • Select DVI
  • Audio is controlled via NEC remote and application
  • When done:
    • Unplug the cable from the MacBook
    • Press Power on NEC remote

NOTE:  When using an HDMI connection for the first time, a change to the audio settings will need to be made on the MacBook.  This only needs to done once.  While connected to the HDMI cable:

  • Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences
  • Select Sound
  • Select the Output tab
  • From the list displayed under Select a device for sound output:, select NEC (Type will read HDMI)
  • Close the Sound window
  • The MacBook will remember this setting

Wireless projection available through Apple TV in classroom.

    • Press Off on NEC remote
