Health Classroom 208

  • Plug HDMI cable into one of two floor boxes (one on door side of room, one on window side of room)
  • Press Floor Door or Floor Window button on the Extron button panel next to white board to turn on projector and select proper input.
  • Connect HDMI cable with adapter to MacBook
  • Volume is controlled via Volume dial on Extron button panel and application on MacBook
  • When done:
    • Unplug HDMI cable from MacBook
    • Press System Off button on Extron button panel to power down projector

NOTE:  When using an HDMI connection for the first time, a change to the audio settings will need to be made on the MacBook.  This only needs to done once.  While connected to the HDMI cable:

  • Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences
  • Select Sound
  • Select the Output tab
  • From the list displayed under Select a device for sound output:, select Epson PJ (Type will read HDMI)
  • Close the Sound window
  • The MacBook will remember this setting

Wireless projection is available through the Apple TV in the classroom.

If projecting an iPad, please go to Apple TV

If projecting a MacBook,  it must be running macOS 10.13.x (High Sierra) or higher.

  • The MacBook must be connected to GreenDoor
  • Press APPLE TV on Extron button panel
  • Click on AirPlay icon in menu bar at top of laptop screen (looks like a rectangle with a solid black triangle sticking into bottom).
  • Select Apple TV being used (all Apple TV’s are named by room)
  • Desktop image should now be projected.
  • Volume is controlled from Volume dial on Extron button panel and through application on MacBook
  • When done, be sure to disconnect from Apple TV so next person in room can connect.
    • Select AirPlay icon
    • Select Turn Mirroring Off
    • Press System Off on the Extron button panel to turn off projector

Before connecting to an Apple TV, make sure the iPad is connected to the GreenDoor wireless network.

To ensure the best signal quality in the classroom, it is recommended that before following these steps turn off wifi on the iPad and then turn it back on.

  • Press APPLE TV on Extron button panel. When Apple TV screen appears, move on to next steps.
  • Activate AirPlay on iPad **
    • Slide a finger up from bottom of screen
    • Select AirPlay icon (bottom center right – looks like a rectangle with a solid black triangle sticking into the bottom)
    • Select classroom (all Apple TVs are named by room) and turn Mirroring On
    • iPad image should now be projected.
      • If image does not appear, go back to AirPlay icon and turn Mirroring On.  In some cases, mirroring does not take the first time.
  • Volume is controlled from Volume knob on the Extron button panel and volume toggle on iPad.

When done, be sure to disconnect from Apple TV so next person in room can connect.

  • Go back to AirPlay on your iPad
  • Select iPad to disconnect from Apple TV
  • Press System Off on Extron button panel to turn off projector

** NOTE: To ensure reliable connectivity, you must be running iOS 10.x or later on your iPad.  Please contact the ITS Help Desk if you need assistance upgrading to the latest version of iOS.

  • Press BluRay button on Extron button panel to turn on projector and BluRay plaer.
  • Turn on BluRay player w/Samsung remote or power button on front of player
  • Press Open/Close button on remote to eject drawer.  Insert disc and press button a second time to close drawer.
  • Use Samsung remote to control menu and viewing options (e.g., Play, FF, Rewind)
  • Volume is controlled via Volume dial on Extron Button panel
  • When done:
    • Eject disc from player
    • Press Power button on Samsung remote or on front of player to turn off BluRay player
    • Press System Off to turn off projector

Zoom Room (Web Conference Room) 209

The equipment in this room is a standalone video conferencing system running Zoom Web Conferencing software.  The system provides a high quality audio and video web-based conference experience without the need for a personal Zoom account.

To use this system:

  • Press Power on NEC remote to turn on flat panel
  • Zoom Rooms logo will appear on flat panel
    • If logo does not appear, use remote to change input to HDMI 1
    • If HDMI 1 is selected and logo still does not appear, make sure the Dell computer on credenza is turned on
  • From conference phone on table, tap Start Meeting
  • When address book appears, select from the list with whom you will be conferencing and tap OK
    • Address book is made up of all people with deerfield.edu based Zoom accounts and those who have been conferenced with in the past.
    • If the person(s) with whom you wish to conference are not in the address book, just press OK
  • A meeting will be created and the camera will focus on the participants at the table.
  • To invite someone(s) to the meeting, click on Invite
    • Select a participant from the address book OR
    • Tap E-mail
      • Enter the e-mail address of the participant(s) with whom you wish to conference.  Separate multiple participants by a comma.
      • Tap Send
      • Participants will receive an invitation via e-mail to join the meeting
  • Volume is controlled by the + and  buttons on the conference phone.
  • Video layout can be selected from the conference phone.  The default setting is the speaker’s video is displayed in the center of the screen.  All others are small images on the periphery.
  • To share a laptop screen with the video conference, tap the Share button on the conference phone and follow the instructions on the screen.
    • This method of sharing is done via wireless.  A plugged option is available, but requires assistance from ITS to setup.
  • Camera control (pan, tilt, zoom) is done through the touch pad on the conference phone or via remote in cabinet.
    • Please note that left and right is opposite what you think.  Left/right orientation is based on the camera view.
  • When done,
    • Press Leave on touch pad of conference phone.
    • Press Stand By on NECE remote to turn off flat panel
  • Press Power on NEC remote to turn on flat panel
  • Change input on flat panel to HDMI 2 using NEC remote
  • Plug HDMI cable with adapters on table top into laptop
  • Content will display on flat panel
    • Use JBL sound bar remote to control volume or via laptop and/or application
  • When done,
    • Unplug HDMI cable and adapter from laptop
    • Press Stand By on NEC remote to turn off flat panel
 
  • Press Power on NEC remote to turn on flat panel
  • Tap Present on touch pad of conference phone
  • If connecting a laptop (Windows or Mac), follow the directions on the screen to connect via URL in browser
  • If connecting an iPad/iPhone/Mac via AirPlay, tap iPhone/iPad/Mac on conference phone touch pad and follow instructions on screen
  • Content will display on flat panel
    • Use JBL sound bar remote to control volume or via laptop and/or application
  • When done,
    • If using a browser, click Disconnect and close browser window
    • If using AirPlay, go to AirPlay and select Stop Mirroring
    • Press Stand By on NEC remote to turn off flat panel

Conference Room 210

  • Press Power on NEC remote to turn on flat panel
  • Plug HDMI cable with adapters on credenza into laptop
  • Content will display on flat panel
    • If content does not appear, change input on flat panel to HDMI 1 using NEC remote
  • Use JBL sound bar remote to control volume or via laptop and/or application
  • When done,
    • Unplug HDMI cable and adapter from laptop
    • Press Stand By on NEC remote to turn off flat panel
