Frank L. Boyden, Deerfield’s legendary Headmaster, came to envision a fully-residential school that provided students with not only an education, but a home. Mr. Boyden knew, as we do today, that learning, and the development of character, empathy, and citizenship, is holistic and relational, occurring across every dimension of Deerfield life—including in our dormitories.
At the heart of Deerfield’s mission is an enduring belief that human connection transforms lives, and that young people truly flourish in a culture of care, support, and joy. Nowhere is this felt more powerfully than in our residential life program, which fosters a deep and profound sense of belonging and community beyond classrooms and cocurriculars. With the construction of the West Campus Dormitory, we will offer every Deerfield student access to a home on campus, as the Academy embraces a full-boarding model.
This is a defining moment for Deerfield—one that will deepen the shared experiences, lasting friendships, and collective commitments that shape our students’ lives.
